Why is Alberto Hurtado so important in Chile?

Because it was one of the first men in Chile concerns of those who had nothing and found the "Hogar de Cristo" which runs until today in our country.
Luis Alberto Hurtado Cruchaga was a chilean jesuit.
On october 23, 2005 was canonized and is know as the patrons of workers.
He was born in Viña del mar on january 22, 1901 and die in Santiago on agust 18 , 1952.
He came to study law at the pontifical Catholic University of Chile and workin a newspaper.
He study and them workedas a professor at the San Ignacio school.
He was beatified on october 16,1994 by the Pope Juan Pablo ll at the Vatican.
He died of pacreatic cancer that had developed in his later years
